Bottega
Italian family business from Veneto, known for the prosecco in the striking golden bottle. Here you can read what Bottega Gold and Rosé Gold are, how they taste, how to serve them and which cocktails they work in.
Prosecco in a golden jacket
Bottega is an Italian family business from Veneto, the region around Venice and Treviso in northeastern Italy. The company makes wine, grappa and liqueurs, but in the Netherlands it is best known for one bottle: the gold-colored prosecco Bottega Gold. The bottle is metallized on the outside, making it shine like gold. There is also a pink version, small 20 cl bottles and a magnum.
Prosecco is a sparkling wine from northeastern Italy, made from the white grape glera. Unlike champagne, prosecco gets its bubbles not in the bottle but in a large, closed tank. This preserves the grape's fresh fruitiness and makes the wine lighter and fruitier than champagne. Bottega Gold comes from the hills around Valdobbiadene, the best-known area for prosecco. Rosé Gold is an outlier: it is made from one hundred percent pinot noir from Lombardy and is therefore technically not prosecco.
In brief
Six Bottega bottles at Gall & Gall
Two varieties in different sizes: the white Gold and the pink Rosé Gold, plus the Gold Cru as a vintage version. The 20 cl bottle is exactly right for one person.

Prosecco Gold
The famous golden bottle. Glera from the hills of Valdobbiadene, floral and fruity with apple, pear and citrus.

Prosecco Gold 20 cl
The same prosecco in a small bottle. Enough for one or two glasses, handy as a gift or for a spritz.

Prosecco Gold Magnum
The golden bottle in double size. Makes around ten glasses and is an eye-catcher on the table.

Gold Cru 2023
Glera supplemented with 7.5% chardonnay and 7.5% pinot noir, from a single vintage. Floral and fruity, in gift packaging.

Rosé Gold
Sparkling rosé made from pinot noir from Lombardy. Fruity and lively, with strawberry, blueberry and violets.

Rosé Gold 20 cl
Pink bubbles in a small bottle, for one person or as a festive thank-you gift.

Apple, pear and white flowers
Floral & fruity
Green apple, pear and citrus, with white flowers. Rosé Gold smells of strawberry, blueberry and a hint of violets.
Light and juicy
Prosecco is lighter than champagne, with a soft, foamy fizz and juicy fruit. It is fresh, but less crisp and acidic.
Short and fresh
A short, fresh finish with fruit. This makes it easy to drink and a good fit for a spritz.
Taste profile of Bottega Prosecco Gold. The Rosé Gold is slightly fuller and fruitier, with more red fruit.
How to drink Bottega
Drink prosecco young and well chilled, at 6 to 8 degrees. Do not store it for years: its fresh fruit is precisely what it should have.
On its own as an aperitif
Pour the prosecco into a tulip or wine glass so you can smell the fruit. It pairs well with crostini, olives, caprese salad or Italian fish starters.
Glass: wine glass or tulip glass →In a spritz
Bottega Gold is the base for an Aperol Spritz or Hugo. Fill a large wine glass with ice, pour in the prosecco first, then the bitter aperitif or elderflower syrup, and finish with a splash of sparkling water.
To the Aperol Spritz →The small bottle
The 20 cl bottle makes about two small glasses. Chill it for a few hours and drink it all at once: an opened bottle does not keep its bubbles for long.
To the cocktails →Cocktails with Bottega prosecco
Prosecco is the sparkling wine of the Italian aperitivo. With Bottega Gold or Rosé Gold, you can make these classics.

Aperol Spritz
Prosecco, Aperol and a splash of sparkling water over plenty of ice. The best-known spritz.
Hugo Spritz
Prosecco with elderflower syrup, mint and lime. Light and fresh.
Bellini
White peach purée topped up with prosecco, as in Venice.
Mimosa
Orange juice with bubbles. With Rosé Gold, it turns pink.Everything you still wanted to know about Bottega
