Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition

The fresh side of Caskmates. Smooth Jameson matured in casks that previously held IPA, taking on citrus and hops from them. Made for long, cold highballs with plenty of fizz.

What is Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition?

Hops and citrus in an Irish whiskey

Alongside the Stout Edition, this is the second collaboration between Jameson and beer brewers. This time, the whiskey is matured in oak casks that previously held India Pale Ale. IPA is a heavily hopped beer, and those hops remain in the wood. The whiskey takes on citrus and a lightly hoppy character from them.

The base is the same smooth, triple-distilled Jameson at 40% ABV. The difference from the Stout Edition is striking: where that one is dark and chocolatey, the IPA Edition is fresh and slightly bitter. That makes it the Caskmates for summer, for highballs with soda water or ginger ale.

Everything about Jameson →
What percentage of alcohol is in Jameson Caskmates IPA?
Jameson Caskmates IPA Edition contains 40% alcohol, just like the Original and Stout Edition.
Does Jameson Caskmates IPA taste like beer?
Not really. It contains no beer; the whiskey has only been aged in casks that previously held IPA. This gives it citrus and hop notes, but it remains a smooth Irish whiskey.
What is the difference between Caskmates IPA and Stout?
The IPA Edition is fresh and slightly bitter, with citrus and hops. The Stout Edition is dark and rounded, with cocoa, coffee and butterscotch. The IPA is the better choice for highballs, while the Stout is better neat and in Irish coffee.
What do you mix Jameson Caskmates IPA with?
With soda for a dry highball, or with ginger ale and lime for something sweeter. Use about one part whiskey to three parts soft drink and plenty of ice.
Can you also drink Caskmates IPA neat?
Yes, although it is best enjoyed with ice or sparkling water. Neat, you mainly taste the slight bitterness of the hops alongside Jameson's soft vanilla.
