What is Peachtree?

The Schiedam liqueur that went around the world

Peachtree was launched in 1984 by De Kuyper in Schiedam, in response to demand for a liqueur with a true peach flavor. The brand caught on worldwide and quickly became one of the most successful liqueur launches ever: within a few years, the bottle was behind virtually every bar in America and Europe. The name refers to Peachtree Street in Atlanta.

The liqueur is fresh and sweet with the taste of ripe peaches and contains 20% alcohol, low enough to mix generously. Peachtree is the base of the Sex on the Beach and Woo Woo, two cocktails that became popular during the same period. There is now also a ready-to-drink Peachtree Spritz in a 4.5% can.

How to drink it

Three ways to drink Peachtree

Peachtree is made for mixing. With juice or sparkling water, you have a highball ready in thirty seconds; in a shaker, it becomes a classic.

As Sex on the Beach

40 ml vodka, 20 ml Peachtree, 60 ml cranberry juice, and 60 ml orange juice over plenty of ice in a highball glass. Stir, don't shake, and garnish with an orange wedge.

With sparkling water and lime

40 ml Peachtree with 150 ml sparkling water over plenty of ice and a lime wedge. Light, refreshing, and low in alcohol; the brand itself calls this the Fizzy Peachtree.

As a peach spritz

50 ml Peachtree, 75 ml prosecco, and a splash of sparkling water in a large wine glass filled with ice, with a slice of peach. Or take a can of Peachtree Spritz and pour it over ice.

What percentage of alcohol is in Peachtree?
Peachtree contains 20% alcohol. The ready-to-drink Peachtree Spritz in a can contains 4.5%.
Who makes Peachtree?
Made by De Kuyper, the liqueur distillery in Schiedam that has been there since 1695. Peachtree was developed there in 1984 and grew into one of the most successful liqueur launches ever.
What is Peachtree made from?
Made from neutral alcohol with peach flavouring and sugar. The liqueur is refreshingly sweet and tastes of ripe peaches without becoming syrupy. This makes it easy to mix with juice or sparkling water.
What can you make with Peachtree?
The best-known are Sex on the Beach, with vodka, cranberry and orange, and Woo Woo, with vodka and cranberry. It also works with sparkling water and lime, in a spritz with prosecco, or in summery fruit cocktails.
What is the difference between Peachtree and Archers?
Both are peach schnapps or peach liqueur in the same style and are used interchangeably in cocktails. Peachtree is made by De Kuyper in Schiedam; Archers is a British brand. They are similar in taste and alcohol percentage.
Do you need to keep Peachtree in the refrigerator?
You don't have to, but it pours more pleasantly when chilled. An opened bottle will keep for months at room temperature because of its alcohol and sugar content; in the refrigerator, it's ready to use immediately.
