Havana Club Selección de Maestros
The rum made together by all of Havana Club's master blenders. Each maestro selects their best rums, which then age in selected casks and go directly from the cask into the bottle at 45%. Full-bodied, powerful and made to be tasted neat.

The work of all the maestros together
Havana Club Selección de Maestros is the result of the combined craftsmanship of the Maestros del Ron Cubano, the master blenders who oversee the house style. First, each maestro selects the rums they consider the best. These are blended together, then aged further in specially selected casks and bottled directly from the cask.
That last point explains the percentage: 45%, clearly higher than the 40% of the 7 Años. You get more body, more wood and a richer aroma. It is the Havana Club for whisky lovers, and a rum best discovered neat or with a few drops of water.
In brief
Full-bodied, woody and powerful
Rich and deep
A rich, full aroma with oak and warm, dark notes. Give it a little time in the glass.
Full-bodied
Plenty of body and clearly more strength than the 7 Años. The wood and maturity of the selected rums take center stage.
Long and warm
A long finish in which the 45% alcohol makes itself known. A drop of water makes it softer and rounder.
Flavor profile of Havana Club Selección de Maestros neat. A few drops of water soften the strength and open up the aroma.
How to taste a 45% rum
Taste it the way you would a high-proof whisky: start with a small sip, smell gently, and keep water at hand.
Neat, with water on the side
Pour 3 cl into a tulip-shaped tasting glass. Smell it gently first, then take a small sip. Next, add a few drops of water with a pipette or teaspoon and taste again.
Tasting glasses →With one large ice cube
Pour 4 cl over a large ice cube in a heavy tumbler. The cold tempers the 45%, and the melting water slowly opens up the rum.
Whisky glasses →As a robust Daiquiri
Shake 50 ml Selección de Maestros, 25 ml lime juice, and 15 ml sugar syrup vigorously, then strain into a chilled coupe. A Daiquiri with much more depth than one made with white rum.
To the recipe →Cocktails that can handle 45%

Hot Toddy
