What exactly is a bar blade?
A bar blade is a flat bottle opener without a handle, usually made of steel or fitted with a vinyl grip. It fits in an apron pocket, opens with one hand and is the model you will see behind almost every professional bar.
How do you open a bottle without bending the cap?
Hook the opener under the crimped edge and rest the lip on top of the cap, so the rim becomes the pivot. Then tilt calmly. If you pull upwards at an angle, the cap bends out of shape and the edge turns sharp.
Can a wooden bottle opener go in the dishwasher?
Better not. Wood that fills with water swells and works loose from the metal part, after which the opener starts to wobble. Wipe it dry and do not leave it in a rinse sink among the glasses.
What does a can opener that removes the lid do?
It cuts the entire top off a can instead of punching two holes in it. You then drink from it as if it were a glass, pick up more of the beer's aroma and can add a slice of citrus.
