What is the difference between Boston and cobbler?
A Boston set consists of two tins you knock together and needs a separate strainer. A cobbler already has the strainer and a measuring cap in the lid, which makes it easier at home.
Which size cocktail shaker do I need?
For a single cocktail, 50 cl is enough. If you want to make two at once, take 70 or 80 cl, because plenty of ice has to fit alongside the liquid without the shaker overflowing.
Can a cocktail shaker go in the dishwasher?
Stainless steel can go in the dishwasher, but it is better to rinse the shaker out straight after use. Copper, gold and matt black are finishing layers that go dull from dishwasher tablets; wash those by hand.
How long should you shake a cocktail?
Ten to fifteen seconds of hard shaking is enough. You can tell from the tin: as soon as frost appears on the outside, the cocktail is cold enough and diluted just right.
Why does my cobbler shaker freeze shut?
When you shake hard the metal contracts and the lid grips onto the tin. Hold the shaker under warm water for a moment or tap the side with the heel of your hand, and it comes loose.
