Why does Exaltation have such long stems?
The long stem keeps your hand well away from the bowl, so chilled wine and champagne stay at temperature for longer. It also lifts the glass high above the place setting, which gives the table a more festive look.
Which Exaltation size suits red wine?
The 47 cl for everyday reds and the 55 cl for powerful, tannic wines. In the largest glass the wine gets more air and opens up faster without having to decant it.
Aren't the Exaltation flutes too large?
They are wider than the narrow classic flute, and that is deliberate. More volume means more aroma from the champagne, while the tall shape still holds on to the bubbles.
Doesn't a long stem break more easily?
Bowl, stem and foot are drawn from a single piece of glass, so the seam where cheaper glassware gives way simply isn't there. Do give the stems room in the dishwasher basket and store the glasses upright.
