Why is the beer glass 52 cl?
Because above half a litre of beer you still need room for foam. In a glass of exactly 50 cl the head spills over the rim, certainly with weizen and tripel, which foam a lot as you pour.
What size is a standard longdrink glass?
Around 35 cl. Most cocktail recipes assume three ice cubes, a measure of spirit and a small bottle of soft drink, and together that comes to exactly this volume without the glass overflowing.
Do these glasses fit in an ordinary dishwasher?
Usually yes, but check the height of the top rack and whether the spray arm can turn freely. Tall glasses knock against something sooner, and that contact is the main cause of breakage.
Why does my head of foam not last?
Often because of too much rinse aid. It leaves a thin greasy film on the side of the glass that makes the head collapse immediately. Rinse beer glasses with cold water and use rinse aid sparingly or not at all.
