Why does coffee stay warm longer in double-walled glass?
Between the two walls sits a layer of air, and air conducts heat poorly. The drink therefore loses temperature more slowly and the outside of the glass stays cool enough to hold.
Are Thermic Glass glasses dishwasher safe?
Yes, on a short glassware programme. Stand them upright and keep them from touching. If water remains between the two walls afterwards, there is a hairline crack in the inner wall and the glass has had it.
Which size should I choose for latte macchiato?
Thirty-four centilitres. You need height so the milk, the espresso and the foam stay visibly stacked in layers. In a lower glass those layers run into one another.
What makes borosilicate glass different from ordinary glass?
Borosilicate barely expands when heated and therefore withstands large temperature differences. Boiling water in a cold glass is no problem. It is thin, though, so it copes less well with a knock or a bump.
Can double-walled glasses be used for cold drinks too?
Yes. Iced coffee and cold drinks stay cold longer and the outside does not mist up, so you get no wet ring on the table. That is exactly the same insulation, only the other way round.
