How many cl should a coffee glass be?
Allow 10 cl for espresso, 18 to 22 cl for cappuccino, 27 to 36 cl for a caffe latte and at least 36 cl for latte macchiato. The narrower and taller the glass, the better the layers stay visible.
Are there coffee glasses with a handle?
Yes, and with single-walled glass they are worth having, because it gets hot. Models with handles can be found among the tea glasses and the irish coffee glasses, where the foot and the handle together keep the heat away.
What does a double-walled coffee glass do?
Between the two walls sits a layer of air that acts as insulation. The coffee stays hot longer, the outside stays touchable and no condensation forms on the table. Visually the coffee appears to float in the glass.
Can you pour boiling water into a coffee glass?
Only into heat-resistant or tempered glass. Duralex and most catering ranges take the temperature jump without trouble. Thin-walled decorative glass can crack, so rinse it with warm water first instead of pouring boiling water straight in.
How do I get coffee residue out of a glass?
That brown veil is coffee oil and will not come off in the dishwasher. Soak the glass in hot water with a spoonful of soda, brush out the base and rinse well. After that the glass is completely clear again.
