Which sizes of hospitality glasses do I need as a minimum?
Four shapes cover an average café: a 19 cl fluitje and a 29 or 34 cl vaasje for beer, a 21 cl spatje for jenever and soft drinks, and a 27 cl long drink glass for mixers. A bostonshot completes it.
How many cl is a fluitje and how many a vaasje?
A fluitje is 19 cl and a vaasje 29 or 34 cl. In the 29 cl vaasje you pull a 25 cl pilsner with its head of foam; the 34 cl leaves room to serve more generously or to put a large beer on the menu.
Can hospitality glasses go in a glasswasher?
Yes, that is what they are made for. Use a short two to three minute programme with a hot final rinse and a glass cleaner without rinse aid, because rinse aid leaves a film that stops beer foam from holding.
What is the difference between a spatje and a long drink glass?
At 21 cl a spatje is shorter and sturdier and is meant for jenever with water or a small soft drink. A 27 cl long drink glass is taller and narrower and has room for ice plus a top-up of tonic or cola.
Can I reorder hospitality glasses individually?
These ranges are continuing lines, so you can reorder by the box of six or twelve without the shape on the table changing. Keep half a box of each size in reserve, because breakage is rarely spread evenly across a year.
